GTA 6 preload: date, timing and what to check

The preload date is confirmed. The download size and universal launch unlock time are not. This is the useful part now, without made-up storage numbers or countdown claims.

Preload starts at local midnight on November 12, 2026.

Digital preorders are eligible. Physical Standard boxes contain a download code; codes received and redeemed in time can also begin preloading from November 12. The game releases November 19.

Who can preload?

Digital

Players who preorder a digital Standard or Ultimate Edition can begin preloading on November 12.

Physical

The physical Standard box contains a download code. Redeem it after receiving the box to make the digital download eligible.

Disc

There is no game disc in the physical box, so the code and a full download are required.

Check the code region before buying a physical copy

Rockstar recommends buying from a retailer in the country of your platform account. PlayStation codes have region restrictions; Xbox codes are listed as not region-locked. Imported PlayStation boxes can therefore create an avoidable activation problem.

Confirm you are signed into the platform account that owns the order.
Match any PlayStation download code to the region of that account.
Keep storage free, but ignore unofficial file-size claims until a platform or Rockstar publishes one.
Install console system updates before the preload window.
Review automatic-download and rest-mode settings on your console.
